It has been a fast-paced couple of months at Spatial WA.

Since the start of the year our team has now more than tripled in size. Contributing to this growth our Delivery Partner, KPMG, was appointed in May and has now been fully embedded in the team providing specialist expertise to support the Program delivery.

Our four use cases are also progressing, bringing together people from several Government agencies and will demonstrate how an Advanced Spatial Digital Twin can deliver on strategic priorities.

In consultation with 17 state Government Agencies, a Data Management framework has now been endorsed by our Program Board. An important milestone, the framework will facilitate data-sharing across Government and within the Advanced Spatial Digital Twin (ASDT) and underpins the entire project.

While the hard work continues in the background, Spatial WA’s name and presence is coming to the fore as we promote the Program and its benefits to the industry and broader public.

In May, I travelled to Sydney to attend Locate24 and delivered a joint presentation with our Victorian counterparts on the Digital Twin programs happening around the country.

It was encouraging to hear other presenters at the conference demonstrating how Digital Twin technologies support the streamlining of land development approvals, infrastructure delivery and provide the public a platform to engage with Government and understand the impact of new projects to their communities.

Chris Pemberton, who is the Principal Consultant - Next Generation Spatial Cadastre, and I also presented at the Western Australian Institute of Surveyors Conference in June. There was a lot of interest from the room particularly in relation to the how we are uplifting the current spatial data capability from 2D to 4D and the next Generation Spatial Cadastre.

As we enter the second half of 2024, we will continue to engage across Government and industry as we shape the Program.
